Friends Trail Loop
One of the most popular hikes in Beavers Bend State Park, the Friends Trail Loop offers a 1.5-mile experience that balances river views, rocky terrain, and moderate elevation without demanding too much.
The trail winds along the Mountain Fork River, with consistent scenery and several good spots to stop and watch the water move through the rocks. The terrain includes moderate inclines and mildly uneven footing, more engaging than a flat nature walk without being difficult for most visitors. Trailhead access is convenient from the main park corridor.
It’s particularly good in fall when the hardwoods along the river turn color. Bring water shoes if you want to wade in at any of the river access points along the way.
BigFoot Speedway
A family-owned go-kart and entertainment facility in Hochatown, BigFoot Speedway is the area’s best option for anyone who wants some high-speed fun between trail and lake days.
Wild Goose Canoe & Kayak
Providing access to a peaceful stretch of the lower Mountain Fork River, Wild Goose Canoe & Kayak is the main outfitter for a self-guided float through the Beavers Bend backcountry.
Riverman Trail Rides
Offering guided horseback trail rides through the Ouachita Mountains, Riverman Trail Rides provides one of the more immersive ways to experience the landscape surrounding Broken Bow.
Rugaru Adventures
The only zip-line operation in the Hochatown area, Rugaru Adventures sends guests through the forest canopy on a six-line course covering more than half a mile, with views of Broken Bow Lake along the way.
Lookout Mountain Loop
A moderate 1.9-mile trail that climbs through pine and hardwood forest to an elevated ridge with valley views, the Lookout Mountain Loop offers real elevation gain without requiring a full-day commitment.
Skyline Trail
The most demanding trail in Beavers Bend, the Skyline Trail is a challenging 8-to10-mile loop that takes experienced hikers through the park’s backcountry and past a hidden waterfall.
